2nd Prize - St. Hilda's (£2)
3rd Prize - Carlisle St. Stephen's
4th Prize - Luton Red Cross

Prizes for the own choice test piece contest were:

1st - £100 and Challenge Cup
2nd - £60
3rd - £40
4th - £25
5th - £15
6th - £10

At 5pm there was an interval for 20 minutes. The massed bands gave a concert at this point for broadcast on the BBC. Programme was conducted by Herbert Bennett and featured:

  1. March - "Song Of The Guards" - Dave Comer (from the film "The Yellow Mask")
  2. Entr'acte - "Bells at Eventide" - S. Cope
  3. March - "The Song Of Glasgow" - H. Bennett (The Glasgow Evening News Prize Song)
