Each band played a polka and a quadrille.
Mr. James Barker was an organist and formerly of the Rochdale Borough Band.
The first prize was an electro-plated cornet (value twelve guineas) and £2 in money. Second prize £6, third prize £4, fourth prize £2 and fifth prize £1.
