David Hirst is one of the country’s most experienced adjudicators, being involved in brass band adjudication for over thirty years. He has adjudicated at all levels from Youth to Championship.
David has adjudicated at the National Finals (Sections 4-1) on several occasions, Butlins Championships and numerous Regional Area Contests at all levels.
In 2009 he was invited to adjudicate at the Swiss National Championships in Montreux and has adjudicated at the prestigious Ayr Music Festival and Portsmouth International Music Festival.
In addition, David has adjudicated for local and regional brass band associations, and has adjudicated at contests in, for example, Wychavon,Folkestone, Treorchy, Rhyl, Blaenavon, Darlington and Dunfermline etc.
Because of his involvement in education David is composition examiner for AQA and has been involved in performance assessments for Music Degree programmes validated by the University of Sheffield.
