Two own choice selections, no set test.
PROTESTS : The championship ended in turmoil with a number of protests lodged . The initial lodged by Newcastle against South Sydney who were alleged to have played a professional player . Upheld
The secretary of the Band Association of N S W ( George Burges ) immediately lodged a protest against the Newcastle band on the same grounds . Upheld
A further protest followed against Eastern Suburbs for breach of contest rules .
Leichhardt was then awarded the championship with Hurstville 2nd with no 3rd place .
South Sydney objected to Hurstville being awarded 2nd place on the grounds the Association allowed it to play a professional cornetist and also a protest had been lodged against Leichhardt
The protest against Eastern Suburbs and Leichhardt were dismissed
The Association under an avalanche of protests seriously considered declaring it a no contest . A final decision was made 1st Leichhardt District ; 2nd Eastern Suburbs United ; 3rd Hurstville Municipal
