From Brass Band News October 1910 "Everything passed off well except that the Kirkdale Subscription Band, being drawn No. 1, insisted on ignoring the call, and went on rehearsing, consequently they were rightly and properly disqualified, but allowed to play last as a disqualified band. They were awarded second place, but no prize.
