A cornet, value £5 5s, for the best Lincolnshire band that had not won a prize since 1870, together with £2 offered as a first prize to any Lincolnshire band, went to the Grimsby Artillery Volunteers
Wyke Old Band had been entered but having failed to send a representative to draw for a place, they were disqualified, although the full band was present in time for the contest.
