for failing to participate in the massed bands and marching display on the Sunday 29th at the conclusion of the contest
Prior to the contest Hamilton Band had made a formal application for exemption from the march on the grounds of financial hardship but was rejected .
A band representative said he they been warned that they would be disqualified for not participating in the march they would have had no alternative but for the band to withdraw from the contest.
