First of three contests in aid of the movement to erect in the park a memorial to Alderman Thomas Denham. Prizes of 40 and 35 guineas to the two winning bands. Two bands play in each contest.
40 guinea prize went to Wyke & Linthwaite Bands, 35 guinea prize to Batley and Denton.
