Greater London (County), England, UK

Greater London came into being on 1st April 1965, the amalgamation of the County of London (today's "Inner London") and the whole county of Middlesex with portions of land from the surrounding counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, and Surrey (today's "Outer London"). For historical reasons, the much smaller City of London is treated as a separate county.
