North Ayrshire (Council Area), Scotland, UK


The modern-day North Ayrshire council area is the Northern portion of the historic county of Ayrshire, which was subsumed into the new region of Strathclyde. The Strathclyde region existed from 16th May 1975 to 1st April 1996, and was an amalgamation of the historic counties of Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Dunbartonshire, plus nearly all of Argyll.
