British Bandsman 22 Sept 1934 - Yorkshire Correspondent 'Broadacre' states - " I hear that Shipley Band has been taken over by Butterfield's Tank Works." - Seems strange that the first result we have of Butterfields is 1946, and which Shipley band does he mean - its not Saltaire or Canal Ironworks, could it be Shipley Brass Band who has not had a contest result since 1912? Butterfields ceased in May 1954
