At 5pm there was an interval for 20 minutes. The massed bands gave a concert at this point for broadcast on the BBC. Programme was conducted by Herbert Bennett and featured:

- Entr'acte - "Bells at Eventide" - S. Cope
- March - "The Song Of Glasgow" - H. Bennett (The Glasgow Evening News Prize Song)
