Band formed in August 1914 when J. H. Kitchenside and a large number of others left Highgate Salvation Army band and formed Highgate Silver. Was for a time the band of 21st Battalion Middlesex Regiment. By April 1917 26 members had volunteered or been conscripted into H.M.Forces. (Brass Band News May 1917.
