Formed in 1887 as Hanley Christian Mission. 1st contest was Sandbach in September 1888. (Brass Band News November 1888) B.B.N. March 1889 states band has disbanded, but also states that Hanley New Mission Band has been going for only 6 months, changed name to Hanley Amateur in 1890.
