Believed formed 1896/7 as Mountain Ash Town (Brass Band News March 1898)
Article in Brass Band News April 1903 states - "Mountain Ash St Marys Hibernian Band are determined to push to the front. I hear their new instruments are to be on view at Mountain Ash , but the band are not going to show what they can do on them at the contest as a certain scribe says they are(Mountain Ash contest) Time gentlemen please they are only six months old yet but they are coming."
