North East Derbyshire District Council Annual Brass Band Festival
Chesterfield Rural District became the greater part of the new North East Derbyshire District in the 1974 local government reforms. The new entity inherited the contest from the old entity.
Originally held as a "Yorkshire vs. Midlands" contest, it was run annually in Chesterfield from 1959 until 1976, thereafter moving to Dronfield, from which it takes its more recent informal name of "Dronfield Contest".
