Bands competing for the 1st or 2nd prize had to play "Zampa" and two own-choice pieces, other bands had to play three own-choice pieces
Prizes consisted of instruments to the value of £194 18s
Only the three Irish bands played on the first day, the others had not yet arrived - bad weather being blamed.
