"Manifestly, the bandsmen played under difficulties: the rain swept the open platform and ran off their peaked hats on to their faces, but in spite of the discomfort the players paid great attention to technique."

The test piece in the First Division was the Symphonic Poem, " The White Rider " (Dens Wright), and in the Second Division a selection from " Semiramide" (Rossini).
"The bands competing in Division One were Callenders Cable Works. Crystal Palace, Edmonton Silver, Great Central and Metropolitan, Lambeth Boro', Poplar and Bromley. St. Pancras Silver, Watford Silver, Willesden Town, Wood Green Excelsior, and Yiewsley and West Drayton. In the Second Division the bands entering the contest were Callender & Cable Works "A," Grangewcod Silver, Leyton Boro' Silver, Tilbury Town Silver, Willesden Town, Wood Green Excelsior, and L.M.S. (Willesden) Steam Shed.."
DIVISION ONE. First (Hanwell Licensed Victuallers' Silver Challenge Cup and cash Las) — Callenders Cable Works. Second (the " William Woods Memorial " Challenge Cup and cash £7)— Crystal Palace.
