Also/previously known as: J. H. Roberts, James RobertsBorn in Wexford Ireland but parents returned to Yorkshire when he was 3 years old. Moved to Great Wester Colliery band in 1902, also conducted at Tongwynlais, Talygarn and Penrhiw. Moved to Cwmparc in 1913. Joined 21st Batt Welsh Regiment.(Brass Band News May 1916.)
