"Headland Fantasy" was commissioned by Nes Janitsjarkorps and conductor Thomas H. Verket for the Norwegian Concert Band Championship in 2024. This version for brass band was commissioned by Svenska Brassbandförbundet for the National Swedish Brass Band Championships in 2024.

The piece is a musical description of the municipality Nes, in Viken county, Norway. It consists of four parts: Raging Rivers, Whispering Waters, Resonating Ruins and Ghostly Grounds. The first two parts describe the characteristic river meeting in Nes, while the last two tell of the mystery and myths surrounding Nes' church ruins.

The musical material in the work revolves around a hymn composed for the piece, called Headland Hymn. In the course of the piece, the hymn is processed in different ways, in different guises. The music moves between dancing melodies, beautiful chorales and technical passages, before it all culminates in a chaotic encounter with the haunted cemetery.
