Scottish Borders (Council Area), Scotland, UK

The modern-day Scottish Borders council area is the same in territory as the Borders region that existed from 16th May 1975 to 1st April 1996.

The Borders region was an amalgamation of the historic counties of Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, Selkirkshire, and Peeblesshire, plus a corner of Midlothian.
