Marie Curie, born Maria Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland (which was then part of the Russian Empire), and died on July 4, 1934, in Passy, France, was a pioneering physicist and chemist who made groundbreaking contributions to the fields of radioactivity and nuclear physics.

She is one of the most famous and influential scientists in history and remains an iconic figure, especially for her accomplishments as a woman in a male-dominated scientific community. This piece is focusing on Curie's importance as a scientist and as a role model.
