Marie Curie, born Maria Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland (which was then part of the Russian Empire), and died on July 4, 1934, in Passy, France, was a pioneering physicist and chemist who made groundbreaking contributions to the fields of radioactivity and nuclear physics.
